Bodrum
Bodrum is a charming little port 270 km south of Izmir on the Aegean coast of Turkey. There are about 30,000 people who live in and around Bodrum.
An impressive Medieval Castle looks down on the bay of Bodrum where the Aegean and Mediterranean meet. This charming town attracts a diverse population. It has a long palm lined waterfront with elegant yachts crowded in the marina. Also has all amenities such as shops, restaurants, bars and cafes. Not far from the town you can swim in the clear turquoise waters. It is a wonderful place to visit for any day or for a night out.
Gulluk
In the north of the peninsular, just 30 minutes by excellent road links from Bodrum, lies the fishing town of Gulluk. The name Gulluk translates into 'Place of the Roses' that probably gives more than a good first impression and introduction to this beautiful location on the Aegean Sea. Many ask why Gulluk has only become known in very recent years. Gulluk is enjoying a renaissance brought about by the relocation of the port area in the centre of the town. The old port has moved to a new site several kilometres away and this clears the way for the development of the town and surrounding area.
The plans for Gulluk are very exciting and tourism experts have already referred to it as the future Potofino of Turkey. High prais indeed and thus the perfect holiday location for those seeking quiet and peaceful surroundings.
Gulluk is known as the ‘Fishing Paradise of Turkey’ so it is not surprising that the town is famous for its fish restaurants where Sea Bass and Sea Bream are the speciality.
Although Gulluk is known for its peaceful location, compared to Bodrum it is by no means remote. One of its many plus points is that Gulluk location is accessible. The International Airport Bodrum Milas is only 15 minutes away and a 3.1/2 hour flight from the UK. This means you could be sitting in your property not only for your main holidays but also as a weekend retreat in a short space of time.
Gulluk is set in a protected bay on the Aegean Coast and enjoys the most remarkable and romantic sunsets surrounded by forests of olive, almond and orange plantations.
The renaissance of Gulluk is already under way and even with all the exciting plans for the new town you can be assured that Gulluk will always retain its special charm and peaceful character.
